ENTERPRISING hotel industry magnate Ilala Lodge Hotel Group has hit the ground breaking in a
move set to stamp their lions share in the growing tourism industry in Victoria Falls.
Earmarked to begin operations by year 2020, the development of Palm River lodge will see an
addition of a 73 bed facility on the banks of the iconic Zambezi River.
In a ceremony graced by the Minister of State for Matabeleland province Hon Richard Moyo, Ilala
CEO Jim Brown highlighted the investment’s prospects in adding value to the town.
“Given the continued growth of Victoria Falls as one of the premier destinations in Africa, we feel
that there is room in the market to offer another high-quality, luxury hotel for the discerning
traveller.”
“In addition to boosting tourism and employment within Victoria Falls, the USD$15 million
investment marks a distinguished expansion for the Ilala Lodge Hotel Group,” said Jim
Brown.
The hotel promises to bring a unique composition of luxurious accommodation complemented by
scenic environs.
The Minister of State for Matabeleland reiterated the creation of employment through this business
venture.
“This project will also create a number of job opportunities for our people in the resort town of
Victoria Falls and other supporting industries like the transport sector, arts and music industry,” said
Hon Moyo.
Victoria Falls Mayor weighed in with applause to the Brown family’s contribution to the tourism
sector in Zimbabwe.
