New Councillors Inaugurated

Newly elected councilors for ward 1 and ward 6 were sworn in before a Full Council meeting of 30 March 2022.

The inauguration comes after the successful hosting of by-elections for vacant posts which were created after the recall of former councilors Mags Varley (ward 1) and Ephias Mambume (Ward 6)

Ward 1 Councillor Tonderayi Mutatsa and Bekithemba Mlotshwa Ward 6 were sworn in in a ceremony witnessed by fellow councilors, management and members of the public.

“I am very happy that the people of ward 1 Victoria Falls have chosen me to be their representative on service delivery. The winner should be service delivery at the end of the day. I therefore promise to push for service delivery that will change the face of our ward. The water situation is a topical issue and it should be addressed as quickly as possible,” stated Cllr Mutasa.

A holder of a degree in Business Studies and Law, Mutasa has a keen interest in sport and environmental protection advocacy.

“I love sport in general and it aches me to be in a city were sports facilities are not adequate. I will take it upon myself to lobby for such facilities and promote sports tourism. I also feel for efforts of the local team, especially football, when they make to premier league it means they have to relocate elsewhere.”

He is a practicing lawyer with Mvhiringi and Associates here in Victoria Falls.

The newly elected ward 6 Councillor Mlotshwa is also an avid sports fanatic who has held the Vice president post in the ZIFA Mat North region and is a former chairperson for the trailblazing Amagagasi FC which missed the Premiership ticket by a whisker.

“I see myself as a messenger representing people of ward 6, carrying all the peoples issues in as far as service delivery by the local authority is concerned and making sure that they are solved,” said Cllr Mlotshwa.

Cllr Mlotshwa holds a MBA from Open University of Zimbabwe, HND in Accounting from SAAA, Diploma in Purchasing and Materials management from IAC, and a Certificate in HRM from IAC.
